Hello! I am extremely happy and excited to be part of the Somerset family. Teaching is my passion and I enjoy every moment of it. Originally from the beautiful island of Trinidad, I graduated from Lehman College, Bronx, New York, with a Bachelors’ Degree in History. After which, I had the privilege of attending Hunter College, New York, New York, where I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. I have Teacher Certification in the states of Florida and New York. I have high expectations for my students and want them to develop a love for inquiry and learning so that they will succeed academically and become productive members of society. I strive to create a nurturing classroom environment that builds students’ self-esteem, self-worth and character. My goal is to ensure that my students become life-long learners. When I am not teaching, I enjoy travelling, reading, running, snorkeling, and spending time with my family and friends. I’m excited to teach 3rd grade this year, and especially happy that I’ll have my 2nd graders from last year. Our class theme is Busy Bees; working towards success. It’s going to be a fantastic school year!
This website is a great way for you to keep updated on what's going on in our classroom. This week you will receive a welcome packet that includes important information about our classroom and school policies. Additionally, each student will receive a mandatory Student Planner for a cost of $1. Students will record their homework in their planners and the planners will also be used for parent-teacher communications.
